Fiber News & Updates
As hunting season gets underway, Lake Region Technology & Communications (LRTC) reminds hunters to keep safety in mind while enjoying the outdoors.
Hunting is a popular tradition throughout the communities we serve, but it's important to remember that utility equipment should never be in your line of fire. Shooting at or near fiber lines, power lines, poles, transformers or other utility equipment can cause serious damage, interrupt essential services and create dangerous conditions.
A single stray shot can have a lasting impact. Damaged fiber lines can leave homes and businesses without internet service, while damage to electrical equipment can create life-threatening hazards. Repairs can also be costly and time-consuming, especially when crews must locate and replace damaged equipment.
Before taking a shot, always identify your target and know what lies beyond it. Be aware of nearby utility infrastructure and never shoot in the direction of overhead lines, poles or equipment.
At LRTC, we're committed to keeping our communities safely and reliably connected. Hunters can help us protect the infrastructure that provides essential services to their friends, families and neighbors.
Enjoy hunting season, stay safe and help us keep our communities connected!
